Veil
Is Ambience & dreams & hypnotic creations. A collaborative live & studio project between
Dan Fallon , Dale Garbutt & special guest musicians. Much of the sound work produced is improvised ,
atmospheric tracks , usually 10 minute + pieces heavily laden with effects
and triggered layers of samples and loops made for use in a live environment & on the weekly radio show AFFECTED.
The latest phase in the Veil process is composing the score for a circus on ice performance
entitled "Ultra Violet" for the 2007 Australian Icedancing Championships .
This sort of film soundtrack style of music/ sound design is heavily influenced by the work of artists
like Fututre Sound Of London & is intriguing & also pretty enjoyable to produce as an alternative
to rhythmic percussive stuff like breaks.
is less constrained ,more chaotic , lending itself to experimentation & allowing
for surprising unplanned elements to leap out.
However , the opportunities to perform locally in a suitable environment are
somewhat limited to bush party chillout areas & occaisional downtempo gigs.
After picking thru hours of these types of recordings &
producing some atmospheric stuff on request for a few short film makers
& A/V installations , we are slowly assembling an arsenal of atmospherics
& samplebanks that can be reworked on the fly in a live music environment.
